Getting to Know Meggie H

My name is: Meggie H

My favorite dinner is: Chicken enchiladas with cilantro dressing and homemade key lime pie.

My favorite dessert is: Berry Pie and vanilla ice cream

My favorite flower is: Peonies or ranunculus--I love lots of petals!

My favorite hobby is: Making something from nothing (ie refinishing furniture, painting old wood, re-fashioning old clothes, etc.)

My favorite restaurant is: Chipotle (cross you fingers Provo will one day have its own!)

A game I like to play is: Find a great deal while shopping for clothes.

The music I listen to most is: Something that I can’t help but sing or dance to.

My favorite thing to buy is: Fresh, yummy produce

A book I highly recommend is: Star Girl

A movie I watch over and over is: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the old Gene Wilder version)

A smell that makes me pause is: A good pause? The smell of citrus--like grapefruit or lemons.

The city I would most like to visit is: Beijing

My favorite thing to do on a date is: Be outside

The best vacation I ever had was: Visiting Ankor Wat in Cambodia

If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose? Mary on 'It’s a Wonderful Life.' She’s a loving, resourceful, funny wife to Jimmy Stewart’s character. My kind of woman.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Sing like a rockstar.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing? “De-grossing” chicken. I have a kind husband who usually cleans the chicken for me when I cook.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time? Usually with a book, or painting furniture.

What do you think is your very best feature or characteristic? I am empathetic.

What is the "thing" you are most grateful for? Love. (Ha ha, totally general, but that’s the only way to describe it.)

What is your dream vacation? Something with sun, beauty, adventure, yummy food.

What's the coolest thing you've ever done? Um, I got into the industrial design program at BYU (not many girls do it) and then I went to Malaysia for a design internship last summer.

How did you meet your husband? I threw an anti-love Valentine’s Day dance party and I met him there...then immediately turned total hypocrite as I fell in love with him ;)

How did he propose? He proposed in the mountains. It was lovely.

The best thing about being married is: Getting to hang out with my best friend every day!!

What do you and your husband like to do together? We really like to talk computers and design--his forte and mine. We get passionate about new technology, thoughtful design, and how incredible our world is.

What would be your perfect day? Probably something involving beautiful architecture, products, or furniture. I’m a designer, so I get nerd-happy around all things well-designed.

What was the best advice you got/would give on marriage? You might be justified in getting mad, but staying calm and acting with love will make you happier than you ever thought imaginable.

What story does your family always tell about you? Uh...I was “the white girl” on the African American hip-hop team in high school. My family all jokes that I was born the wrong race :)
